Obinna Okafor is a Senior Manager in Amberside Advisors' Financial Modelling team, bringing extensive experience in project finance, structured finance and financial modelling across the energy transition sector, with particular expertise in nuclear, renewables, hydrogen and wider energy infrastructure.
Obinna supports developers, investors, lenders and public sector organisations on the commercialisation, funding and delivery of complex energy and infrastructure projects. His experience spans project finance, regulatory asset base (RAB) frameworks, investment appraisal, debt sizing, financial modelling and capital structuring for large-scale infrastructure assets. He combines strong commercial insight with advanced technical modelling capabilities to help clients evaluate investment opportunities, secure funding and deliver robust, financeable projects.
At Amberside Advisors, Obinna works with clients across the energy transition landscape, supporting the development and financing of projects that accelerate the UK's net zero ambitions. His expertise in both commercial strategy and financial modelling enables him to advise on projects throughout the investment lifecycle, from early-stage business case development and funding strategies through to financing, delivery and operational optimisation.
Before joining Amberside Advisors, Obinna was Head of Finance & Commercial Strategy at Orkora Ltd and previously served as lead modeller on Great British Energy Nuclear’s £15–20bn Rolls-Royce SMR programme. Earlier in his career, he held engineering and technology roles with Johnson Matthey and Ceres Power, providing him with a strong understanding of the technologies underpinning the energy transition.
Obinna holds an MBA with Distinction from Imperial College Business School, a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a First-Class BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Liverpool. He brings a unique combination of engineering, commercial and financial expertise to support clients in developing, commercialising and funding complex energy and infrastructure projects.
