“My time at Amberside Advisors has given me a real breadth of industry and technical experience as well as a high level of client and expert exposure right from the start of my career. The standard of training and the learning culture is second-to-none.”

My story

I joined Amberside Advisors in October 2023, having graduated with a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, focusing on environmental science. Despite a background in sustainability rather than finance, and having previously considered pursuing a path in biological research, I began following our in-house financial modelling training pathway, then switched to begin studying the ACA in July 2024 to build on this foundation and widen my breadth of knowledge.

My time at Amberside Advisors

Since joining in the core financial modelling team, I have worked on mandates across renewable energy and decarbonisation, model builds, audits, and due diligence for both public and private sector clients. I've had the opportunity to be involved in projects beyond this team too, including transport modelling for major sports events with Steer and delivering financial modelling training to our clients. In June 2025, I moved into the commercial advisory team, and here I've been able to continue developing my modelling skills while gaining  broad exposure across the energy transition space and building full-lifecycle project experience, spanning strategy, bids, operations, and performance monitoring. To date, I've worked on innovative projects, including advising on strategic energy partner procurement to decarbonise hospitals, universities, and local areas. I’m currently progressing through the ACA professional level, and have benefited from the flexibility to switch pathways, allowing me to consolidate the complexities of financial modelling before expanding my understanding of the wider business environment. Beyond work, I also have the opportunity to be active in several EDI working groups and enjoy the office’s sociable culture and regular social events.

What's it like at Amberside Advisors

Amberside Advisors provides such a strong foundation for career development, and has given me the opportunity to undertake continuous training as well as allowing me to pass that on to others through running training internally and externally as well. This rich culture of learning is a core tenet for us, alongside opportunities to earn trust and responsibility on projects from an early stage, which has allowed me to take strides in building my management skills as well.
