Amberside Advisors announces four team promotions

We are delighted to share the latest news about four exceptional members of our Amberside Advisors’ team who have recently received well-deserved promotions. Robert Caroline, Philip O’Brien-Young, John Mitchell and Joseph Whitehouse have each demonstrated exceptional technical expertise, leadership and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Philip O’Brien-Young - Associate Director

Phil joined Amberside Advisors in 2013 and has worked across PPP, renewable energy and data centre projects throughout Europe, with experience in North America and Africa. He has supported projects across the full asset lifecycle, from financial close through to refinancing, sale and handback, including SoPC4 PPP transactions.

In recent years, Phil has led several major assignments, including supporting GHNF applications and providing independent assurance on the financial model for the UK government’s first investment in a floating offshore wind project in the Pentland Firth. Phil has shown deep technical leadership across a range of energy transition and regulated utility mandates.

Robert Caroline – Associate Director

Rob joined Amberside Advisors in 2013 and has extensive experience in PFI/PPP operational models, variations, portfolio exit analysis, transaction support and financial close modelling. He is known for providing the highest level of financial modelling expertise, while supporting clients with decision-making through robust analysis.

Recently, Rob has supported the raising of over £150m in project finance debt and advised on several renewable asset acquisitions. He also led valuation support for the sale of a £70m+ UK portfolio and has provided fund valuation services for European portfolios totalling over €4bn.

John Mitchell – Senior Manager

John joined Amberside Advisors in 2018 and has since been combining team leadership team leadership with delivery across a wide range of infrastructure modelling mandates, including renewable portfolios, OFTO leases, smart meters and decentralised energy. His experience spans operational modelling, financial close support, audit and assurance, and model development.

John also plays an active role in client training, delivering financial modelling and Excel sessions to audiences across Europe.

Joseph Whitehouse – Senior Consultant

Joe joined Amberside Advisors in 2023 after graduating with a BSc in Physics from the University of Leeds. Since then, has contributed to a wide range of mandates, including model builds, audits and due diligence across renewables, PFI and energy-from-waste assets. More recently, Joe has been involved in more complex assignments requiring bespoke portfolio modelling and has also collaborated on District Heating Network modelling, as well as provided support for GHNF applications.

Alongside his project work, Joe is working towards his ACA qualification to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
