• Operational Financial Model: Amberside Advisors developed a long-term financial model covering the next few decades of operations. The model featured monthly granularity for the first ten years and quarterly thereafter, allowing the Client to monitor financial performance in detail, particularly during the early construction stages of the asset’s life.

• Project Funding Modelling: Amberside Advisors helped the investor and operator team pull apart the financing package, which differed to what was initially transacted on. We provided transparent and straightforward coding that made it easy to pinpoint what was happening and when.

• Scenario Analysis: We delivered a highly flexible scenario manager, enabling the Client to test a broad range of variables. This included multiple funding structures, cost and revenue inputs, and highly detailed sensitivities, such as modelling the impact of changes to individual salary costs.

• Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory: Amberside Advisors worked closely with both the investor and the data centre operator’s teams, acting as a bridge between the two, and helping align stakeholder expectations by proposing the most effective solutions.

• Improved Decision-Making: The scenario manager enabled the Client to analyse outcomes under a wide range of assumptions, supporting robust internal review and long-term planning and so enabling better decision making.

• Funding: thanks to the model structure, the client was able to identify funding shortfalls quicker and easier, and put in place additional funding if required.

• Clarity: the model gave clarity to their portfolio structure that included three assets and three separate holding companies.

Project Outcome

The engagement concluded successfully, with the investor and operator team being happy with the operational financial model and scenario tools delivered.
